Overview
Projects in CrawlDesk represent isolated workspaces where you configure crawling settings, manage datasource, and integrate AI search capabilities. Each project can target specific domains (e.g., your company's internal docs or public sites) and includes features like analytics, API keys, and integrations.
This guide covers the essentials of creating and deleting projects in the CrawlDesk dashboard, accessible at https://app.crawldesk.com/dashboard/. Ensure you're logged in with appropriate permissions (e.g., admin access) before proceeding.
Key Benefits of Projects:
- Scalability: Launch AI-powered searches in seconds without complex setup.
- Isolation: Keep different documentation sets (e.g., marketing vs. engineering) separate.
- Customization: Add descriptions, domains, and optional integrations per project.
Prerequisites:
- Active CrawlDesk account.
- Browser access to the dashboard.
Project In Crawldesk
- Create a Project
- Delete a Project
Follow these steps to set up a new project. This process takes under a minute and launches a ready-to-use AI-powered workspace.
-
Navigate to the Dashboard
Log in to your CrawlDesk account and go to Crawldesk Dashboard. This is your central hub for managing projects. -
Initiate Project Creation
Locate and click the Add Project button (typically found in the top-right corner or projects list section). -
Fill in Project Details
In the "Create New Project" modal that appears, provide the following:- Project Name: Enter a unique, descriptive name for your project (e.g., "Developer Docs"). This will be used across the platform for identification.
- Description (Optional): Add a brief note on what makes this project special (e.g., "AI search for marketing resources to speed up content creation"). This helps team members understand its purpose.
- Project Domain: Specify the primary domain to crawl (e.g., "example.com"). This defines the scope for AI indexing and search.
-
Review and Create
Double-check your entries. Use the Cancel button if needed to abort. Once ready, click Create Project.
Your new project will instantly appear in the dashboard, ready for configuration (e.g., adding crawl rules or integrations). You'll see a success message like "Launch your next AI-powered project in seconds."
Tips:
- Start with a focused domain to avoid overwhelming the crawler.
- After creation, explore the project's settings to configure the datasource and AI search.
Deleting a project is a permanent action that removes all associated data. Use this only when a project is obsolete. Proceed with caution, as it cannot be undone.
-
Access the Project
From the dashboard at Crawldesk Dashboard, locate the project you want to delete (e.g., "Marketing"). -
Initiate Deletion
Click the Delete button next to the project (often in the actions menu, like a trash icon). -
Confirm Deletion
A confirmation modal titled "Delete Project" will open, displaying:- A warning: "You are about to permanently delete the project 'Marketing'."
- Key impacts:
- All project data will be permanently deleted.
- Search configurations and analytics will be lost.
- Associated API keys and integrations will be disabled.
- Confirmation Step: Type the exact project name (e.g., "Marketing") in the provided field to verify. This prevents accidental deletions.
-
Execute Deletion
After typing the name, confirm the action. The project will be removed immediately, and you'll be redirected to the updated dashboard.
- Backup any critical data (e.g., export analytics) before deleting.
- If the project has active integrations, disable them first to avoid disruptions.
- Deleted projects cannot be recovered—contact CrawlDesk support if you need assistance.
